Designing an Islamic Spiritual Treatment (IST) Model Using Fuzzy Delphi Technique: A Case Study of MSM and Transgender Recovery Programme in Malaysia
This study utilized the Fuzzy Delphi method to design an Islamic Spiritual Treatment (IST) model for the rehabilitation of the Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM) and Transgender (TG) communities in Malaysia. The developed IST model consists of 7 main components, namely physical treatment, guidance on religious observance, guidance on religious knowledge, guidance on modern medical knowledge, Islamic spiritual treatment, counseling guidance, and adherence to regulations. Through the Fuzzy Delphi analysis, all 7 components achieved a threshold value (d) of less than 0.2 and a 100% expert consensus percentage, indicating a high level of consensus. In terms of Fuzzy scores (A), the components of Guidance on Modern Medical Knowledge and Islamic Spiritual Treatment recorded the highest score of 0.967. The findings of this study demonstrate the importance of a holistic approach that combines elements of physical, spiritual, and psychosocial treatment in assisting the rehabilitation of the MSM and TG communities. The developed IST model is expected to provide a comprehensive framework for Islamic spiritual rehabilitation programs for these communities.
