Underdevelopment in the 21st Century: A Case of Tamenglong District, Manipur
There is a persistent underdevelopment in Tamenglong District, Manipur, despite the rapid advancements globally in the 21st Century. It explores the socioeconomic, infrastructural, and political factors contributing to the stagnation of the district. The study focuses on critical issues including limited access to education and healthcare, transportation and communication, poor economic diversification and ineffective governance. Utilising a mixed research approach, the study incorporates primary data collected through interviews, focus group discussions, and relevant secondary data collected from government reports and literature. The findings reveal a significant gap in development indicators, including a low literacy rate, and inadequate infrastructure which collectively hinder the district's progress. The study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges the Tamenglong District faces and emphasises the urgent need for targeted interventions to improve the quality of life and foster sustainable development.
